What shapes the diesel price in Ohio
Ohio sits at the crossroads of I-70, I-71, I-75, I-76 and I-90, more major interstate intersections than any state except Texas, which makes it a heavy fuel stop for Midwest through-traffic. Its state diesel tax is high, partly reflecting road maintenance demand from winter truck traffic. Columbus and Cleveland are distribution hubs, and proximity to Midwest refining at Wood River and Lima keeps pre-tax prices competitive. EIA reads Ohio through the Midwest district for diesel.
